Accessibility Statement
What we build to, what we have tested, and how to tell us when it fails.

This site should be usable whatever device, browser or assistive technology you read it with. We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
What is in place
- Keyboard. Every menu, control and form can be reached and operated without a mouse, and the focused element is always visible. A skip link jumps past the header to the content.
- Contrast. Body text, labels and buttons are checked against the AA contrast ratios.
- Headings. Each page has one H1 and a heading order that does not skip a level, so a screen reader’s outline matches what you see. Article sections are numbered.
- Images. Every content image carries descriptive alt text that names the materials and colours, and a visible caption. Purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Motion. Nothing moves on its own, and every transition is switched off for readers whose system asks for reduced motion.
- Zoom and reflow. Pages reflow to a single column on narrow phones and stay readable at 200 per cent text zoom. Data tables turn into labelled cards on small screens instead of scrolling sideways.
- Language and structure. The page language is declared, landmarks are marked up, and tables carry real header cells.
Known limits
- Advertising is supplied by third-party networks. We require accessible ad formats where the network offers the choice, but we do not control the markup inside an ad slot.
- Some older articles carry alt text written before our current standard and are being rewritten as they are updated.
How we test
Automated audits (Lighthouse, axe) run against every template on each release. Keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader checks are done by hand on the article, category, author and contact templates.
Tell us when something fails
If any part of this site blocks you, write to support@thelayeredhomes.com with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within five business days, and to fix confirmed barriers in the next release. If you need something on this site in another format, ask and we will send it.
